About St. Lawrence University

St. Lawrence University is a highly-selective private, four-year liberal arts college located in Canton, which is a village in St. Lawrence County (serving as its county seat), in the US state of New York, with a population of more than 5800 inhabitants, as estimated during the 2000 census.

The university was established in 1856 and it is the oldest coeducational university in the state of New York. It offers it students 40 majors and 36 minors, including 3+2 engineering programs run jointly with seven other colleges, and a 4+1 MBA at Clarkson University.

Athletics

The athletic teams from St. Lawrence are nicknamed the Saints and they compete in NCAA Division III. Their distinctive colors are scarlet and brown.
